Taken during several days of private studio sittings as part of an ongoing series dealing with gender and personal constucts of identity and beauty in the hijra communitues of New Delhi, India. The term ‘hijra’ has particular cultural and religious origins and is used to describe gender identites within a specific context. Historiclly revered, many face discrimination, exploitation and provert in contempory society, despite being legally recognized as the ‘third sex’ in india since 2014.
